For many of us, nature is a big inspiration in our lives. It brings color, natural design, beauty and peace. Our surroundings can nurture us and literally color our world. I have always been drawn to the aesthetic beauty of nature and am one of those people who takes lots of quick snapshots with my iphone where ever I go, hoping to capture that beauty to inspire my artwork.
Like many of us, I look at Pinterest, Instagram and other places online for an endless supply of eye candy to see what is trending and to get a good dose of visual inspiration. Travel is also a great way to see new things with fresh eyes...
But what about right now, where you're at right at this moment? Do you take the time to look around and really see a beautiful sunset, the veins in a fallen leaf, the brick pattern on a building or a flower in full bloom? At this point in time I am grateful to be living near a bird sanctuary in Laguna Beach (and still pinching myself)! It certainly has inspired the tropical collection I am currently working on for Surtex 2016. I am having so much fun, because this time, I don't have to venture very far to incorporate some of the surrounding beauty I see and feel into my artwork!
Whether it's nature or made by human hands, there is beauty everywhere! Where do you look to find what inspires you?
